Appliance Pick-Up Program

(Appliance Pick-up Program is a Wisconsin Public Service program.) refrigerator

Exchange your old, inefficient appliances for cash.

Wisconsin Public Service, in partnership with Wisconsin Focus on Energy, is offering an Appliance Pick-Up Program, which encourages households to recycle their old, inefficient refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners to save on future energy costs.

Recycle for Rewards Thinking about buying a new refrigerator or freezer and keeping your older appliance for extra storage? Think again. Though it may seem convenient, keeping an inefficient appliance can add at least $100 to your annual energy costs. And older room air conditioners may be wasting $40 per year.

Let Public Service help you fight rising energy costs. We'll pick up your extra refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner -- at no cost to you -- and recycle it properly.

Best of all, you'll also receive a $20 reward for helping protect the environment. Your participation in our program ensures your old working appliance will be recycled and disposed of properly.

  • Refrigerant is recovered and reclaimed or destroyed
  • Foam is recovered and destroyed, or the blowing agent is recovered and reclaimed
  • Metals, plastic, and glass are recycled
  • PCBs, mercury, and used oil are recovered and properly disposed

Visit the EPA's Web site on the RAD Program for more information.
